Everton Linked with Youssef En-Nesyri Move in January
Everton are reportedly considering a deal to sign a striker during the January transfer window.
Sky Sports Germany claims the Toffees are interested in Youssef En-Nesyri of Fenerbahçe. The 28-year-old Moroccan striker is an experienced forward with 131 career club goals. He spent most of his career in Spain with Leganés, Málaga, and Sevilla, winning the Europa League twice with the latter and scoring 20 goals in 41 appearances during the 2023–24 season.
En-Nesyri joined Fenerbahçe the following summer, netting 38 goals in 77 games. He helped the Turkish club win last season’s Turkish Super Cup, and they currently sit second in the league.
Internationally, En-Nesyri has scored 25 goals in 90 appearances for Morocco and is currently participating in the African Cup of Nations, making five substitute appearances as Morocco reach the semi-finals against Nigeria on Wednesday.
Sky Sports Germany reporter Florian Plettenberg noted on X that Everton are pursuing the striker, with formal talks underway. Fenerbahçe are reportedly open to either a loan or permanent deal, and En-Nesyri’s contract runs until 2029.
At present, Everton’s striking options are Thierno Barry and Beto, who have both struggled this season, scoring just three goals each in 24 matches. Barry, who arrived from Villarreal last summer for up to £27 million, is viewed as a developmental signing, while Beto is in his third season at the club and has yet to make a major impact.
Everton manager David Moyes has stated that the club will only pursue signings that make sense for the long term. He explained:
“January is usually about patching up, but ideally you wait and invest when there’s more time. Clubs can look for short-term fixes, but the goal is to bring in players who will contribute for years. Right now, not many clubs are actively investing in new signings.”
