adminLorenzo Lucca may be on the verge of an early departure from Napoli, just six months after his arrival, as Nottingham Forest edge closer to completing a deal with the Serie A club.
The forward joined Napoli on loan from Udinese last summer in a move that included an obligation to buy, but he has found it difficult to secure a regular place under Antonio Conte. His opportunities were limited from the outset and became even scarcer following the August signing of Rasmus Højlund, which further pushed Lucca down the pecking order.
Reports suggest Nottingham Forest have acted quickly and have already reached an agreement in principle with Napoli. The deal is expected to take the form of a paid loan with an option to buy, and talks are said to be at an advanced stage, with only minor details left to resolve.
Forest believe Lucca would bring added physicality and depth to their attacking options, while Napoli are willing to approve the move as part of their January plans, which require player departures before new arrivals can be confirmed.
The situation remains open, however, as Pisa are also keeping a close eye on developments and would like to bring Lucca back to Tuscany. Any such move would depend entirely on the striker’s final choice.
Lucca is now set to assess his options, with an exit from Naples looking increasingly probable. Napoli, meanwhile, are keen to conclude a swift sale as they continue to be linked with Fenerbahce forward Youssef En-Nesyri.
