Nottingham Forest now willing to sell £5.2m player and his transfer looks so curious.

Nottingham Forest are expected to remain active in the transfer market before the window shuts.

That said, there appears to be a greater focus on moving players out of the City Ground this month, which feels puzzling given the team’s current position.

While Forest have limited flexibility within their squad, it is evident that new additions are needed if they are to push further up the Premier League table.

The club have identified Lorenzo Lucca as their preferred striker target, but the forward has also received an offer from Pisa. Having previously played for the Italian side, Lucca may opt to return and help them in their own fight against relegation.

Another potential departure has now surfaced — and it is a particularly intriguing one.

Forest pushing for permanent exit for Cuiabano

Remarkably, just five months after signing Cuiabano from Botafogo for £5.2 million, Forest are reportedly open to selling the left-back, according to Globo Esporte.

Although Vasco da Gama are keen on a loan move, Forest are said to be pushing for a permanent transfer, despite Cuiabano yet to make a senior appearance for the club.

The Brazilian featured for Forest’s B team in their 2–0 win over Paris Saint-Germain at Loughborough University on Monday night, but it appears a first-team opportunity may not be on the horizon.

Cuiabano would reportedly favour a return to Botafogo should he leave England so soon, although that move is complicated by external factors.

Overall, the situation feels like another baffling transfer decision. With Forest in need of a new left-back, it is surprising the club are not considering integrating the young defender into the senior squad.

Forest must end the transfer chaos

Given the scrutiny placed on Evangelos Marinakis and John Textor over the summer, this scenario does little to improve perceptions.

However, with Textor currently subject to a transfer ban, a move back to Botafogo is effectively blocked for Cuiabano during this window.
