Sunderland forward Wilson Isidor is attracting interest from both Nottingham Forest and Everton, according to recent reports.

The French striker is currently joint top scorer for the Black Cats this season with four Premier League goals. However, he has not scored since October and has recently lost his place in the starting line-up to Brian Brobbey.

Earlier this week, it was reported that Everton had made an informal enquiry about Isidor’s availability. Mirror journalist Ryan Taylor revealed on X that the check was carried out by Everton’s head of player trading, Nick Hammond, with no direct club-to-club talks taking place at this stage. Sunderland are said to value the striker at around £25 million, and while he is admired by David Moyes, there is no certainty the interest will develop further.

Everton are understood to be looking to strengthen their attacking options. Thierno Barry is still adapting to English football, while Beto has managed only two league goals so far this season. Although Moyes is believed to rate Isidor highly, no official bid has yet been submitted.

Sky Sports reporter Keith Downie has since provided an update, claiming that Nottingham Forest have also made enquiries about the 25-year-old. Like Everton, Forest are reportedly weighing up their options and have yet to take concrete steps, as they assess other potential targets. Isidor is also said to be attracting interest from clubs abroad, with his situation labelled as one to monitor as the transfer window progresses.

What is being said about a potential departure from Sunderland?

Speaking on BBC Radio Newcastle’s Total Sport, former Sunderland defender Darren Williams suggested the club should be capable of resisting interest in key players such as Isidor and midfielder Noah Sadiki, who has recently been linked with Manchester United.

Williams said: “I’d like to think we’re not in a position where we need to sell or move players on. The club may allow a few to leave, perhaps for financial balance, but with players like Isidor and Sadiki, you’d hope it’s just speculation.

“These players have come into the Premier League and surprised a lot of people, so naturally they’re going to attract attention from clubs who’ve been established in the division for years. But Sunderland is a big club too.”
