The update comes from Brazilian journalist Leo José via club-focused outlet Coluna do Fla. According to the report, West Ham made contact through their scouting network and have since stepped up their monitoring of the player.
Within the London club, Evertton already has an internal valuation, with West Ham believed to rate him at around £10.2m (€12m). Flamengo, however, consider that figure well below their expectations. The Brazilian giants feel the midfielder has significant potential in the European market and value him considerably higher.
Flamengo’s reluctance is not driven by finances alone. From a sporting perspective, head coach Filipe Luís is a strong admirer of Evertton and is keen to retain him, particularly at this point in the season.
Evertton is under contract until December 2028 and is viewed as a key member of the squad. With a demanding fixture schedule ahead, Flamengo have already mapped out a clear plan for his playing time across competitions.
Flamengo’s firm stance has been reinforced by recent transfer activity. During the current window, the club turned down a £4.3m (€5m) offer from Brazilian side Grêmio, underlining their unwillingness to negotiate below their valuation while the season is ongoing.
Ownership structure also adds complexity to any potential deal. Volta Redonda, a third-tier Brazilian club, hold 30% of the player’s economic rights, with Flamengo controlling the remaining 70%, meaning any sale would require agreement from multiple parties.
There is, however, an existing relationship between the two clubs that could prove useful. West Ham previously sold Lucas Paquetá to Flamengo for around £35.9m (€42m), establishing direct communication between the boards. That connection could help shape negotiations or a potential payment structure if interest develops further.
For now, West Ham’s pursuit remains exploratory. The club continue to observe the situation, but any movement is likely to depend on a shift in valuation or a softening of Flamengo’s position over time.
